#and he says he didn’t have the heart to tell dean #to let him down #but he was being selfish too #deep down he wanted every last second with dean he could get #and as they made their way through purgatory he memorized him #because it was all he could do #watching the way his hair moved in the wind #the grace of his movement as he fought #the feel of his arms enclosing cas tight to his chest #how his hands splayed and grasped at cas’s back #the emotion behind his words and the look in his eyes when he asks cas to come with him #he memorized dean’s voice when he said his prayers #every inch and every detail and every precious thing about dean he will never see again #and above all things #every time dean told him he wouldn’t leave him #cas memorized the light feeling in his chest and the lump in his throat and the clench of his stomach #because of how much dean cared #how much dean wanted him by his side #how much he was loved #and it’s that emotion that cas carries with him #it’s the emotion that gives him enough strength to let go #and he will keep it close #so it can give him strength for the rest of his days
