Destiel/Sterek AU in which Castiel tells Dean he’s worried about Stiles being manhandled by Derek to try and cover the fact that he’s actually really just worried about their son growing up so fast.

“Dean, don’t call me a brute…that was years ago. I just can’t help but worry about him sometimes. Stiles shouldn’t be allowing himself to be manhandled by his boyfriend.”

“Cas, listen. Stiles might as well be a Winchester by blood. Actually, nevermind that crap. He is a Winchester. Just like his dad. And Winchesters don’t get pushed around easily, unless maybe, that’s what Stiles likes…but let’s not talk about our kid’s sex life cause I don’t think I’m ready for that yet. Look, what I’m trying to say is…Stiles is fine. He knows how to defend himself. He’s not that helpless little baby we found next to his parent’s dead bodies sixteen years ago. He’s been ours ever since and if you ask me, I think we raised him pretty damn well. If something was bothering him he’d tell us because that’s what we taught him to do, okay?”

“I know that, Dean. It’s just-he’s so big now. And it’s hard to realize that he’s no longer my tiny four year old boy trying to learn all the Enochian his little brain could possibly handle. He’s always with Derek and his pack of werewolves or that lizard boy that you almost killed the other day. He’s never around anymore, Dean. I can’t even remember the last time we watched a movie together and I just miss him so much.”

“And believe me when I say that so do I, but that’s just the way life is. Everyone has to grow up. He’s a good kid, Cas. It’ll be okay, I promise. Now…I remember him saying he had tonight free of any plans. How about we stop by that healthy foods place he loves so much and buy some of that god awful tofu he forces us to eat? If you want, we can even rent a movie to watch on the couch.”

“Ugh, I hate tofu. And I’ll only watch it if we get to do a Stiles sandwich and snuggle up on either side of him like we used to when he was little.”

“Yeah, sure. I don’t see why not. Besides, some midnight cuddles with your two favorite men will do you some good.”

“Thanks, Dean. I love you.”

“Love you too, you brute.”

What if it’s agony now and then… and it’s just hell later on?

BRB FLIPPING EVERY STEREK SCENE EVER TO GIVE ME NEW FEELS

It’s so interesting!  In TV/movies scenes are “blocked”, which means everyone knows where they are supposed to stand, etc.  One of the interesting aspects of Western culture is that we read left to right, which means that our brains automatically equate the things we see on the left as first and thus more important.  Directors, etc understand this, so when they block out a scene, the person/storyline they are concentrating on is usually on the left.  It’s a subtle way of directing the audience where to look for importance, for us to know who’s story is being told.
Basically what I’m saying is that in the originally scene with Stile son the left, we automatically saw it primarily through Stiles’ perspective, he was the one being threatened, he was the one standing up for himself, etc.  Derek was the one being threatening.
So, it’s so cool to see how when someone flips the picture and now Derek is on the left, suddenly people are writing his story - he’s the one denying what they could be, he’s the one actively looking away, etc.  Because suddenly he’s the protagonist the the scene.
I just wanted to point this out because it’s another subtle way TV/movies work to make the audience think in certain ways.

This commentary is awesome and perceptive and the Teen Wolf fandom continues to wow me at regular intervals.

Russell Mulcahy: We didn’t think this would stay in, but we never re-shot it cause actually the performances were so good.
Jeff Davis: That was one of Dylan O’Brien’s ad libs. ‘Just me. Alone. In the woods.’ Great, great improviser.
